Wanderlust Festival Squaw Valley | Lake Tahoe Event & Brand Activation Photos - Kelli Price Photography
Before moving out west, I took a solo road trip from Atlanta to Reno for the summer. My Dad lives in Reno and my brother and his family were stationed at Fallon N.A.S. Reno was the perfect home base for a couple of months. While there, I went on a 4-day backcountry trip in Yosemite National Park, visited my Grandma & extended family in Idaho, camped at D.L. Bliss at Lake Tahoe (now a yearly tradition for me) and went to Wanderlust at Squaw Valley with my sister-in-law. We stayed the night at Clare Taapan which is beautiful lodge in Truckee (see link below to see a wedding I recently photographed there!). My favorite quote from my SIL that weekend was “I love pretending to be a hippie!”
If you enjoy yoga and a healthy lifestyle…..or just enjoy shopping for comfy yoga pants, you should definitely check out Wanderlust. ** The Wanderlust yoga experience comes to you: Expert teachers, signature classes, DJ-mixed soundtracks, and inspiring locations. ** There are a lot of great classes to sign up for, but they can fill out quickly! And it isn’t just yoga, they also offer medication workshops, group hikes and SUP yoga. Tickets can be a little bit expensive, but you can skip the tickets (and classes) and just walk around and check out the booths. There is a lot of free yummy snacks to taste, gorgeous and unique jewelry, hair braiding (sign up early) and festival clothing (I picked up a couple cool pieces for Burning Man).
This year, I was hired by a partner that offers brand activation photography services. O Hello Media alleviates the cumbersome process of sourcing and managing photographers & videographers for the experiential marketing events you produce. They have a global network of vetted experiential visual content creators (that’s where I came in) backed by full time project managers to operate as an extension of your team with consistency, professionalism and organization.
It was a gorgeous summer day at Squaw Valley and got to wear yoga pants to work. Win win! I photographed the Swisse Wellness booth as the ambassadors educated the visitors on their products and vitamins. The goal was to show the engagement in the booth area, which also included hair braiding and a mediation dome. I also wanted to capture the brand AND the beauty of the festival. It was so fun to watch the acro yoga, ribbon dancing and hula hooping. Of course, after I was off the clock, I got my hair braided and had a little fun with the acro yoga :)
